Will Smith, 53, will not be able to attend the awards ceremony for 10 years. The actor was “banned” at other Oscar-related events.
This ban was officially issued by the US Film Academy, which had previously left the actor voluntarily. “Today, the board decided to ban Mr. Smith from attending all events and programs of the film academy, both in person and in virtual format, for ten years, starting on April 8, 2022,” the statement said.
David Rubin and Don Hudson, President and Chief Executive Officer of the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, stressed that the actor’s behavior crossed out all the achievements of other stars who were to be celebrated at the 94th award ceremony.
