Last week, Paramount announced a new feature film based on the Star Trek franchise. The film will be a continuation of the JJ Abrams trilogy, so all the actors from it must return to their roles.
This is where the curious moment lies – according to The Hollywood Reporter, the announcement of the film came as a complete surprise to the entire cast. Journalists claim that neither the actors nor their agents have been notified and are currently negotiating with the studio.
The other elements of the film are in the same condition. Filming is set to begin in the fall, but the new Startrek has neither a ready-made script nor a fixed budget.
The film was directed by Matt Sheckman (“It’s always sunny in Philadelphia”, “Game of Thrones”, “Wanda / Vision” and “Fargo”). Chris Pine (Captain James T. Kirk), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Carl Urban (Dr. Leonard McCoy), Zoe Saldana (Lieutenant Uhura), Simon Pegg (Lieutenant Commander Montgomery “Scott) are expected to return to their roles. and John Cho (Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu).
The premiere of “Startrek” is scheduled for December 23, 2023.
