The team of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale has announced that it is canceling its participation in the 2022 show. About this reported on the website of the 59th International Art Exhibition.

The official address of the Russian representatives states that the curator of the delegates Raimundas Malashauskas, as well as the authors of the pavilion, artists Kirill Savchenkov and Alexander Sukharev, came to this decision. In this regard, it was concluded that Russia will not be represented at the biennale in principle.

The management of the exhibition expressed solidarity with this “courageous and noble deed”, the report says.

On Tuesday, March 1, it became knownthat the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra fired Russian conductor Valery Gergiev. Mayor Dieter Reiter stressed that he had previously demanded that the musician “clearly and unambiguously distance himself” from Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. However, Gergiev, according to Reiter, did not do so.
