Artistic director and chief conductor of the Moscow State Academic Symphony Orchestra, People’s Artist Pavel Kogan has decided to resign. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Culture.
The department said that they received a statement from the conductor asking to dismiss him. Earlier, Kogan canceled all concerts that were scheduled for February 24.
The ministry noted that, despite the absence of the leader, the orchestra continues to work. It is noted that the merger of the orchestra with other federal music groups is not planned.
The MGASO press service confirmed Kogan’s resignation. The director of the orchestra Irina Shigoreva noted that this was his personal decision.
Earlier, Kogan’s resignation was announced by the SlippedDisc portal, which covers news in the field of classical music. According to the publication, the conductor’s decision is related to a special operation in Ukraine. The portal also claims that he left the country in early March.
