Laurent Iller
French choreographer Laurent Iller has announced his resignation as artistic director of the ballet troupe of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Academic Musical Theater (IAMT). TASS reported in the press service of the theater.
Indeed, Laurent Iller is leaving, today he announced at a gathering of the troupe that he is leaving the theater.
Iler explained his decision by the “geopolitical situation”, apparently in view of the military special operation that began in Ukraine on February 24 by the decision of Vladimir Putin. According to the choreographer, he is “sad to leave”, but the situation “does not allow him to work calmly anymore”.
The theater thanked Iler for his work.
It is Laurent Iller’s personal decision to leave the post of artistic director of the ballet troupe of our theater. We regret and thank him for his years of fruitful work.
MAMT Ballet Troupe
Laurent Ihler took over the position of hudruk of the ballet troupe of the Moscow Theater in January 2017. The choreographer has won prestigious awards, including the Benois de la Danse Award (2004, 2007). Ihler is also a Knight of the Legion of Honor (2004) and Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters (2007) of the French Republic.
Earlier, the mayor of the Mayakovsky Theater Mindaugas Karbauskis announced on his Facebook page that he was leaving his post, writing only a short: “I’m leaving too!”.
