“I think I was a very bad actor until I was 45 …”. How “Balamut” almost lost its glory: ygashae_zvezdu – LiveJournal

“TROUBLEMAKER”

March 30 marks the birthday of Vadim Andreev, another Soviet actor of the 1980s generation.

We have already said that in the 1980s, streaming film production literally stamped stars for an hour. Along with serious actors Igor Nefedov (BREAKING HIMSELF), Oleg Menshikov, Nikolai Stotsky, Sergei Koltakov, there are guys who played one or two popular roles in genre paintings: Vladimir Shevelkov (“In my death, I ask you to blame Klava K”), Dmitry ZolotukhinWHY DMITRY ZOLOTUKHIN MISSED FROM CINEMA FOR A LONG TIME ), Andrey KharitonovDRAMA OF AN ACTOR WHO DIDN’T WANT TO BE AN ACTOR), Natalia Vavilova (DIRECTOR FROM WHICH ACTOR OF SOVIET OSCARONOUS FILM LEFT CINEMA), Vasily Funtikov (“Vacation of Krosh”).

Andreev belonged to the second conclusion. The fame that overtook him after the first film “Balamut”, it seemed, will not have a sequel.

Vadim Feigelman (this is his family name) realized how heavy the actor’s bread was when he got to the Moscow Puppet Theater as an amateur with a salary of 200 rubles. Then he was transferred to the position of actor with a salary of 70.

It didn’t stop the young man. He went into the acting profession not for money, but for fame.

He entered the VGIK.

In 1977 he married at the insistence of his Vgikov master Tatiana Lioznova (WHY THE CREATORS OF THE FILM “SEVENTEEN MOMENTS OF SPRING” WERE FOREVER FOREVER) took his wife’s last name – Andreev.

Already at this time he starred in Vladimir Rogov’s comedy “Balamut”. Rogovoy, who succeeded in the film “Officers” (1970), once again broke the box office with the youth drama “Minors” (1976), which, albeit declaratively, raised the issue of street hooliganism. Now Rogovoy has started staging a student comedy. The script was called “Students” and did not arouse enthusiasm in Andreev and his classmate Natalia Kaznacheeva (she applied for the lead female role), but Rogova assured that everything would work out.

And it turned out, although the story of a village simpleton, who gets into the capital’s university, has been told many times before. In “Balamut” came together a decent soundtrack to the words of Mikhail Nozhkin (THE ACTOR WHO IS IN DEMAND WITHOUT APPEARING IN CINEMA FOR ALMOST FORTY YEARS), popular actors, realistic sketches of student life. The film became the leader of the box office, and Andreev was in the top ten actors of 1979 according to polls by the magazine “Soviet Screen”.

It is unknown when Andreev came to the conclusion about “Balamut” – “But I know that I failed the job! And it’s right that they didn’t want to approve me. ” Did it happen on the wave of glory, or later? Or such a statement is just a move to switch the viewer’s attention to other works, because, let’s be honest, the actor’s debut became his main calling card for many years.

Rogovoy was pleased with the duet of Andreev and Kaznacheeva, deciding to make another comedy for them “Sailors have no questions.” This was inconvenient, because Andreev was drafted into the army, and from there some popular film actors returned to closed doors (the case of Viktor Perevalov (UNHAPPINESS OF THE WHITE-HEADED BOY) and Nikolai GodovikovWHY PETRUSH WAS SITTING)). As for Andreev, an agreement was reached with the army that he would be released for filming.

Unfortunately, the comedy “Sailors have no questions”, which was based on the script of one of the most successful comedians of the 1980s Arkady Inin (“Twenty years later”, “Fathers and grandfathers”, “Lonely is given a hostel”), did not become an event comparable to Balamut. The picture went unnoticed.

The fame of “Balamut” did not help Andreev at all, the main roles were no more. In “Carnival” (1981) of his teacher Lioznova, he appeared in the tertiary role of amateur director. In Rogov’s next project, Married Bachelor (1982), he was picked up. Occasionally flashed in “Fathers and Grandfathers” (1982). He slipped into the roles of dads in unsightly children’s films, which even children refused to watch, “Morning without marks” and “Sun in your pocket” (both 1984). Only in 1986 Lioznova shot her favorite student in the lead role in the film “The End of the World with the next symposium”, but this film did not sound.

Andreev himself estimated the long, long period when he lost his profession as follows:

«I think that until I was 45 I was a very bad actor. Yes, he acted a lot, but he started to get real pleasure from the profession relatively recently – ten years ago. And before that he was tormented, he was constantly dissatisfied with himself … “

Andreev’s critical situation was aggravated by the fact that he did not see himself in the theater, although when the movie collapsed, he worked for five years in the troupe of the Detective Theater.

Dubbing came to the rescue. Andreev became the official Russian voice of Bruce Willis, they were even introduced. He voiced “Santa Barbara” and spoke about Oslo in “Shrek”.

And in the latest serial era, Andreev’s roles went awry: “Undina”, “Carmelita”, “Cadet”, “Ranetki”, “Mosgaz”.

Now he is in demand.

In fairness.
