A little more cinema.

“Rocky 4” (USA, 1985)

The whole series of films about Rocky Balboa with the legendary action star Sylvester Stallone has already become a classic of world cinema and is highly recommended for viewing by all boxing fans. But here we highlight the lamp quarter of 1985, in which the hero of the hero Stallone was a stern and charismatic Soviet boxer Ivan Drago played by Dolph Lundgren. The final fight in the ring of the main characters turned out to be truly dramatic. By the way, Drago and Rocky met again in the latest film of the “Creed 2” franchise, released 33 years after “Rocky 4”.

Not subject to discussion (USA-Germany 2002)

Another series of films about boxing, but with a touch of crime drama. Here we will celebrate the stylish first part of the film series with the inimitable “Blade” Wesley Snipes and the movie “Don King” Wing Reims in the lead roles. The plot of the film is as follows: the invincible heavyweight boxing champion George Chambers nicknamed Iceman is accused of rape, as a result of which he is imprisoned, there is a parallel with the real story of Mike Tyson. Monroe Hatchen has been the undisputed boxing champion in prison for 10 years. And the two champions come together in a duel…

The second part of the franchise features the character of Yuri Boyko played by Scott Adkinson, who becomes the protagonist of subsequent films. Wesley Snipes’ character no longer appears in the film series, and Iceman is played by a completely different actor in the second part…

Tyson (USA, 1995)

Since we mentioned Mike Tyson and his promoter Don King in the last post, let’s remember the biographical film about the young years and career of the legendary “Iron Mike”, as well as the role of the famous coach Casa D’Amato in this whole story. The film is based on the book “Fire and Fear” by Jose Torres and tells about the life of Mike Tyson from childhood to 1991…

Lefty (USA, 2015)

Movie hit of 2015 with a whole galaxy of stars in the lead roles. Here’s Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, and even the 2000-x 50 Cent commercial hip-hop star. A film about a man who was at the top of sports fame, material and family well-being, who lost almost everything due to tragic reasons, but managed to find the strength to rise again and win again…

Baby in a Million (USA, 2004)

Another dramatic sports film that won four Oscars. The main role of women’s boxing star Maggie Fitzgerald was played by the notorious Hilary Swank. The film was directed and produced by the legendary Clint Eastwood, who played one of the main roles, and the image of the old boxer Eddie Dupree was embodied on the screen by the iconic Morgan Freeman. The highlight is the fact that in the history of cinema there are far fewer films about female boxers than about male boxers.
