“Dune” can get several sequels

Co-author of “Dune” John Spates hinted in an interview with ThePlaylist about possible “extensions” of the picture. “There are several possible ways to believe that we are not done with this universe,” he said.

Spates added that the previously announced sequel to “Dunes” will be a “convincing conclusion.” Work continues on the previously announced prequel series HBO Max “Sisterhood”, which will focus on the oldest order of the Bene Gesserit.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is based on a novel by Frank Herbert and tells of the confrontation between the powerful Atreides and Harkonnens. The tape came out in September 2021 after several delays due to the pandemic. It starred Timothy Shalame, Oscar Isaac and Rebecca Ferguson. The project was nominated for ten Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay.

The sequel will be joined by Florence Pew and Austin Butler. Filming will start before the end of the summer. The second part will appear in cinemas in October 2023.
