Dior has released a new book on the works of John Galliano for the fashion house: from the dark blue satin dress of Princess Diana to the yellow dress from his latest collection in 2011. Reports about it WWD.
The 448-page work was published by Assouline. The book is the fifth volume in a series that covers the work of all creative directors of the brand. It was written by Andrew Bolton, chief curator of the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute.
“John’s genius was to expand Dior’s aesthetic language through new transformations in keeping with the spirit of the times. His work embodies the fantasy and escapism of the 1990s and early 2000s. In fact, if it didn’t exist, history would have to invent it, “said Bolton.
Earlier, the auction house Cornette de Saint Cyr put up for sale clothes and accessories created by designer John Galliano while working at Dior. A total of five hundred lots were provided by several people. Among them is a Russian client of the French brand, who was 25 years old at the time of the presentation of Galliano’s debut collection.
