The Chechen district court in Chechnya has found Aslan Magomadov, a native of the village of Serzhen-Yurt, guilty of publicly displaying extremist material over the bard’s song “Islamic Ummah” by bard Timur Mutsurayev (named Matsurayev in the ruling).

According to the court, back in 2017, Magomadov posted the song “Islamic Ummah” in the “Music” section of his VKontakte page (in the court ruling – “We are before…”). During the monitoring of social networks, Goncharov, a senior operative officer of the Russian FSB department for Chechnya in the Vedeno district, drew attention to this.

This song by Mutsuraev is included in the federal list of extremist materials under № 2793 by the decision of the Pervomaisky district court of Rostov of December 8, 2014.

“At the court hearing, Magomadov admitted his guilt in the crime he was accused of, repented of what he had done and explained that he did not know that the audio file posted on his personal website was extremist,” the court said. After talking to the security forces, a Chechen resident deleted the song.

The federal judge of the Vvedensky district court of Chechnya Ilman Sadulayev considered the guilty plea a mitigating circumstance, so he sentenced Aslan Magomadov to the minimum punishment under this administrative article – a fine of one thousand rubles.

  • Users of social networks, including in Chechnya, are regularly tried in Russia for listening to Mutsuraev’s songs. More than thirty songs from the repertoire of the Chechen bard included to the federal list of extremist materials.
  • Gudermes City Court of Chechnya admitted local resident Ahmed Duskuyev guilty of distributing extremist materials on the social network “Classmates” – he posted a song by Chechen bard Timur Mutsuraev “Sold Wings of Jihad”, for which he was fined one thousand rubles.

  • On December 5, a similar decision was made by the Gudermes City Court, admitted local resident Adam Saiyev guilty of distributing extremist materials for publishing another song by Timur Mutsuraev on VKontakte. It is noteworthy that the composition “Hadith of Vice”, which became the subject of consideration, is not included in the list of extremist materials.
