Foo Fighters received awards in three nominations at once – it was awarded for the best rock performance, rock song and rock album.

Kanye West received awards for best melodic rap performance for Hurricane and best rap song – Jail.

Highlights of the award

This year’s Grammy Awards were held according to new rules – unlike previous ceremonies, this year’s winners in the most prestigious categories were chosen by members of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences of Recording.

Previously, performers in these categories were selected by “secret” committees, which consisted of 15 to 30 industry representatives. They have been working since 1989, but last year they decided to cancel them.

Not all spectators were satisfied with the choice of winners. The Korean band BTS traditionally performed at the ceremony. Her performance was one of the brightest, but the band never received the coveted award. This made fans very angry – on social networks, BTS fans accused the organizers of inviting the band every year for ratings, but not rewarding them.

Billy Isle dedicated her performance to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in late March. The singer came on stage in a T-shirt with his portrait.

Kanye West did not attend the Grammy this year, although he received two awards. Organizers banned him from performing at this year’s awards due to “ambiguous online behavior.” The reason was the racial insults against the host of the award Trevor Noah, which the rapper allowed himself on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as an extremist organization).

Rapper Lil Nas, who did not receive an award in any of the five nominations, has found a way to attract attention. Users of the network criticized his provocative speech, during which the musician made obscene gestures with a microphone. The audience agreed that at a level such as the Grammys, such behavior on stage is unacceptable.

Not to mention the conflict in Ukraine. The Grammy ceremony included a video address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called on viewers to support Ukraine.
